Because the Japanese folklore is rich in ghost and youkai stories, it is really no wonder that the Western celebration of Halloween became a success. Of course, not all the original aspects of Halloween were maintained, there’s practically no “trick-or-treating", but the costume party (that fits well with the modern cosplay) and the Jack-o’-lantern are really popular.
