Torii, the Shinto gates, are among of the most recognized images associated with Japan. There is a particularly impressive torii image, representing the rows of torii specific to the Inari shrines, and the rows of thousands of torii that can be admired inside the Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto, is certainly one of the images defining Japan.
