It is not uncommon in Japan to represent a deity such as Jizo in a cute form. Over the years, after seeing hundreds of such statues, I am no longer surprised when I discover a cute Jizo… But this one managed to capture my attention: here’s a Jizo represented as… the extremely popular anime character Doraemon… photographed inside a small temple in Osaka.
