Shinmeisha is a 1,200 years old shrine in Shiroishi, Miyagi Prefecture, dedicated to Amaterasu Oomikami, the goddess of the sun and the universe, a major deity of the Shinto religion.
Moved 120 years ago next to the Shiroishi castle, it was a very important shrine, having as chief priests samurai from the Sato clan, retainers of the owners of the castle, the Katakura clan.
