Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Traditional Japan, Yukata couple in Nikko

Mon, April 11, 2011, by Muza-chan
Japan is one of the most modern countries and, at the same time, one of the most conservative. We can see this in transportation, architecture... and one of the areas in which it is easiest to see this is the style of dressing.
Between the fast moving fashion from Shibuya and the extreme fashion from Harajuku, the Japanese traditional dressing style is still very fashionable.

But what I like the most is the fact that the traditional clothing is worn especially by the young people, and not only on special occasions...
Here is one of the many examples I've encountered, this young couple wearing yukata, in front of the Nio-mon, the gate with the two Nio guardians from the Taiyuin Mausoleum in Nikko.
