Kumamoto-jo Inari Shrine

Erected by the lord Kato Kiyomasa in 1588, when he begun the works to expand the Kumamoto castle, this shrine located close to the castle’s main entrance is a tutelary shrine (chinjusha in Japanese), a shrine built for the divine protection of the castle…
