Shimazu clan kabuto

Sun, August 24, 2014

If you like (as I do) old style samurai armors, you can find many original armors displayed in museums and in castles, but it can be hard to photograph them because, for protection, they are often kept in a low-light environment.

I found this beautiful Shimazu clan armor displayed at the entrance in the Sengan-en garden in Kagoshima. It is probably a replica, but I liked a lot the way it was displayed, with the Shimazu family crest (kamon) in the background.
