Takao-san Yakuoin main hall

Thu, May 30, 2019

Takao-san Yakuoin is a temple on Mount Takao, in Tokyo, established about 1,300 years ago. Originally it was a base for the eastern Japan Buddhism, and it was transformed in the 14th century into a temple of the Shingon esoteric Buddhism.

Today, it is one of the 3 head temples of the Shingon-shu Chisan-ha sect, together with the Narita-san Shinshō-ji and Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji.
