Tiger of the Kokura castle

Wed, July 11, 2018

The pair of paintings representing tigers displayed in the Kokura castle are creations of the artist Sato Koetsu. They are renowned for an interesting feature: if you look at the tiger’s forehead, from any angle, you will get the impression that the tiger is looking right back at you.
