Akihabara Don Quijote

Mon, July 25, 2011, by Muza-chan

Among the buildings from Akihabara, Tokyo, there are a few that can be considered landmarks. Some because of the design, others because of the history…
One of my favorites is the building hosting the Akihabara branch of one of the best-known discount chain-stores in Japan, Don Quijote.

Don Quijote (shortened name Donki) owns over 160 stores in Japan (I wrote before about the one from Roppongi Hills, the building with the roller coaster on the roof) and sales a large variety of products, from electronics to groceries. Of course, in the Akihabara store there are also products associated with the area: video games, cosplay clothing…

Besides the stores, in this building at the 5th floor is located one of the best known maid cafés from Akihabara, @Home Cafe. And also related to the otaku culture, on the 8th floor is located the AKB48 Theater, the home of the famous Japanese idol group AKB48…
