Aoyagi Samurai house garden in winter

The house of Aoyagi family, one of the most important vassals of the lord of Kakunodate, is today the main attraction of the well preserved samurai district.

Not only the buildings but also the garden with pond was preserved, featuring more than 600 types of flowers and many stone lanterns. It’s a place that looks wonderful in any season, even under snow…
