I love dioramas and every time I have the opportunity to visit a museum or an exposition featuring dioramas, I don’t hesitate.
I saw a lot of great Japanese dioramas in the large museums, but I also had the chance to discover a very interesting one in the Tepco Asakusakan, a small and nice museum from Asakusa (yes, it’s that Tepco, the electricity company).

The diorama reproduces an area from Asakusa, as it was at the end of the Meiji period. At that epoch, Tōkyō Electric Railway (Tōden) started operating (in 1904) two streetcar lines passing through Asakusa, the Kuramae Line between Kaminarimon and Asakusabashi and the Muromachi Line between Asakusabashi and Marunouchi-Itchōme (both were closed in 1971).
