Casual sightseeing in Tokyo - Apartment building with Shrine

Thu, October 8, 2009, by Muza-chan

In Tokyo, on Ohmon-dori, close to the Suitengumae station, I discovered this small Shrine with an unusual location, in an apartment building.

Matsushima Shrine

The torii and the temizuya are located just outside, while the Shrine occupies the first floor of the building.

Matsushima Shrine

Small and simple, but it looks beautiful:

The temizuya:

An example of maximized space usage often seen in Japan, in a small space there is the Shrine, the apartment building entrance and a small parking space.
The car is probabily part of the landscape, it was recorded at the same place by the Google Car. :)
