After he invented the technology for pearl culturing in 1893, Mikimoto Kōkichi opened its first store in Ginza, Tokyo, in 1899. In time, other important pearl and jewelry producers started opening their flagship stores in Ginza, like Tasaki, a company established in 1954, which produces pearls in Nagasaki.
But the jewelry stores from Ginza are an attraction not only for their products: they are also beautiful buildings, with great architecture. In today’s photo you can admire the Tasaki store and next to it the store of a well known French jewelry company, Mauboussin.
