Himeji Castle, World Heritage Site

Wed, May 15, 2019, by Muza-chan

The Himeji castle is a true masterpiece of wood construction, and it is considered the finest surviving example of the 17th century Japanese castle architecture.

Work for its conservation started 85 years ago and to maintain its authenticity, almost everything was done with traditional techniques. The only modern method was the injection of concrete in the foundation, to strengthen the base against earthquakes.
