Hiroshima Castle and a bit of history

Wed, November 22, 2017, by Muza-chan

After the Mori clan was defeated in the Battle of Sekigahara, their brand new Hiroshima castle (which was completed only a year before) was taken over by the warlord Fukushima Masanori.

Several years later, a flood damaged the castle and for repairs, as the law required, Fukushima requested approval from the Shogun. However, since the approval didn’t come, Fukushima repaired the castle without permission. This could have cost him his life, but he got away easily, being moved to a smaller province, in Nagano. The Hiroshima castle was taken over by the Asano clan, and remained in their possession until the Meiji Restoration.
