Japan Energy Champions, Roppongi Hills

Fri, June 10, 2011, by Muza-chan

I think that you all know that Japan faces the worst energy crisis in history… I was reading a few days ago about the big companies starting to use their own electricity generators, hoping to contribute to the effort to reduce electricity consumption.
But some of them are doing a lot more: Mori Building Co. is actually selling energy!

Since its construction in 2003, the Roppongi Hills mega-complex was equipped with an amazing 39 megawatts gas turbines power generator, able to cover the need for electricity in the whole Roppongi Hills complex. After the Fukushima catastrophe, Roppongi Hills started selling electricity back to Tepco, providing electricity needs for about 1000 homes…
