The entire mountain behind the Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kyoto, is crossed by corridors created by thousands of torii gates. The most famous are the sections where small torii are placed so close to each other that they seem to create a tunnel.
Less publicized but no less spectacular are the paths lined by larger torii, like the ones photographed here. It’s a different sensation, but equally pleasant…
