The Christmas trees are installed in Japan together with the winter illuminations, a bit earlier than in the rest of the world, probably due to the fact that in Japan the Christmas tree has no spiritual significance, being part of the winter decorations.
The Christmas trees display period varies a lot, with some of them dismantled after the first Christmas day, while others are maintained until February, for the Valentine’s day.
Many of them are not real trees but works of art, with some places featuring beautiful designs made to harmonize with the surrounding landscape, such as this one displayed at the Umeda Sky Building in Osaka.
