More than 50% of Japan’s apple production comes from Aomori, and the locals are very proud of the apples cultivated here. A hybrid species known as “Fuji apple", obtained in Fujisaki, is renowned for its crispy texture and sweetness, and it is represented even on the local post boxes, as you can see in this photo taken in Hirosaki.
