Built 123 years ago and declared now an Important Cultural Property of Japan, the Kamihaga Residence in Uchiko was the home of a merchant at the beginning of Meiji Period, and it is a fine example of how the house of a wealthy merchant looked like.
The Kamihaga family was a branch of the family that started the wax production in Uchiko, and their high quality brand, called “Crane in the Sunrise", was sold as far as Europa and America.
