Kanazawa Higashi Chaya geisha district

During the Edo period, in Kanazawa, the tallest buildings were the… two-story chaya tea houses of the Chaya geisha districts. At the time, these were the only buildings allowed to have a second floor. The Higashi chaya district was well preserved, so if you visit Kanazawa, you can experience for yourself the feeling of the old town…
