Kokura castle and RiverWalk Kitakyushu wide angle photo

Fri, February 15, 2019, by Muza-chan

These two constructions from different eras, the medieval Kokura castle, and the futuristic RiverWalk Kitakyushu mall are connected with design elements based on symbols of the Japanese culture.

The white section of the mall’s building was designed to have the same shade as the white of the plaster walls used in the traditional architecture, while the black section was inspired by the black of the kawara roof tiles.

The other two colors used for the RiverWalk buildings were selected to represent the red of the Japanese lacquer and the yellow of the rice fields.
