Daruma Kushikatsu Restaurant

Sat, July 27, 2013, by Muza-chan

Famous for its good and reasonably priced food, the Dotonbori street from Namba, Osaka is also renowned for its eye-catching signs and billboards.
Some of them are simply impossible to ignore, like the monstrous 6-meters mechanized crab or the giant, menacingly looking cook from this photo, who even shouts for time to time “Sosu no nidozuke wa kinshi ya de” - basically a “No double dipping” warning… (^_^)

A very unusual mascot for such a polite country… but this chain of restaurants, Kushikatu Daruma, was established in 1929 and is still the most famous restaurant in Osaka offering kushikatu: small pieces of deep-fried meat, vegetables and seafood, dipped in batter and skewered on a bamboo stick. And since the customer sits at a counter and the sauce is shared, the shouting makes sense, somehow… (^_^)
