Lights and shadows at Honmaru Goten Palace, Kawagoe

In the Japanese traditional architecture the wooden lattice was used to provide light and ventilation, while still maintaining a good level of privacy.

Inside, the lights and shadows game creates an elegant atmosphere, as you can see in this photo taken inside the Honmaru Goten Palace of the Kawagoe castle.
