At many Japanese castles, the main keep (tenshu) was built is a style called “multi-storied castle tower” (soutou tenshu in Japanese). The basic rule was that each story was smaller than the one bellow, and the construction technique was using a timber frame, similar to the construction of Buddhist pagodas.
