Erected on the site of an old temple destroyed by the atomic bomb, the present day Fukusai-ji temple in Nagasaki has a mausoleum for the Japanese soldiers who died during the World War II, with a very unusual building and a beautiful Kannon (the Bodhisattva of compassion) statue. The mausoleum building shape was inspired by very old turtle-back tombs that were found in Okinawa.
