Nakamise Shopping

Fri, December 17, 2010, by Muza-chan

Nakamise is one of the best known, and at the same time one of the oldest shopping venues in Japan. The first shops appeared here during the reign of Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, 300 years ago. Today, there are 89 gift shops and my favorites are the ones with “Edo-style” cookies, releasing an appetizing smell, which persists even after the shops are closed, until late in the evening.
