Senso-ji Nitenmon Gate Night View

Besides the main entrance through the Kaminarimon Gate, the Senso-ji complex from Asakusa has another entrance, a little less known, the Nitenmon Gate. The name, meaning “gate of two ten“, comes from the two guardians (ten), Zochoten and Jikokuten.
The gate was recently restored and, unlike the rest of the Senso-ji buildings, which are lit in yellow, the Nitenmon Gate is lit in red and purple… which makes the two guardians look even more menacing…
