Sat, March 16, 2019, by Muza-chan

The oldest pottery in Japan and among the oldest known in the world was made in the Jomon period, an era estimated to 1,000 years BCE. The name of the period, jomon means “rope-patterned” and comes from the technique of creating the ornaments, by impressing ropes into the surface of wet clay.
