Osaka Shinsekai

Built a century ago, the Osaka’s “New world” district of Shinsekai preserves some basic characteristics from the time when it was newly built: it is still a relatively low-priced and vivid colored entertainment area.

However, while originally its architecture was designed to be based on the western style (the main inspiration were Paris and Coney Island), the today’s landscape in Shinsekai is purely Japanese, with buildings covered by ukiyo-e inspired billboards and adorned with traditional chochin Japanese lanterns. And the place has a special charm due to the giant floating advertising signs representing the famous fugu…
