Originally built in 739 on the site of the palace of Prince Shōtoku in Nara, at Hōryū-ji, the first hall dedicated to the father of Japanese Buddhism is an architectural jewel which was replicated in several other temples (see Yumedono, the Hall of Visions).
Photographed here is the Prince Shōtoku hall belonging to Narita-san Shinshō-ji temple in Narita, constructed in 1992.
