The Red Torii of Shitaya Shrine

Located close to the Inaricho Station, the Shitaya Shrine is one of the most important shrines from Tokyo’s Taito ward.
It was established on the Ueno plateau in 730, but it was moved a couple of times, reaching the current location at the end of the 17th century.
The present day building was built in 1928 and actually the entire area is filled with houses from the beginning of the 20th century. And sometimes, even the passersby are dressed like in the old times…
