During the medieval period, three Japanese castles were nicknamed Mizujiro, “water castle". None of them survived in its original form, but two of them, Imabari-jō and Nakatsu-jō were rebuilt in the 20th century.
For the third, the Takamatsu castle (also known as Tamamo castle), plans were proposed for a reconstruction, and three years ago the foundation of the tower was restored. The main tower will complete the current complex that includes the moats and walls, two yagura turrets and a gate still standing in the original form…
