The gigantic Ushiku Daibutsu

With the pedestal and the lotus shaped platform reaching a height of 20 meters, the Ushiku Daibutsu is the tallest Great Buddha (Daibutsu) statue in Japan and the third tallest statue in the world, having a total height of 120 meters. For comparison, the famous Kamakura Daibutsu, which is 9.1 meters from one knee to the other, could easily fit in the 18 meters hand of the Ushiku Daibutsu…
