One of the oldest bridges crossing the Sumida River is the Eitai-bashi, first built more than 300 years ago. During its history it was rebuilt several times, and now it is located about 100 meters upstream from its original location.
The today’s Eitai-bashi, photographed here while beautifully illuminated in blue, dates from 1926, when it was reconstructed with a design inspired by Ludendorff-Brücke, a famous bridge crossing the Rhine in Germany.
