Japanese Cotton Candy

Sun, March 10, 2013

While visiting Japan, if you participate at Japanese festivals, you will notice that the most popular temporary stalls (yatai) are, besides the ones selling food, those with kingyo-sukui games, masks, choco-banana, ringo ame (candied apples) and something looking very similar to the cotton candy, sold in plastic bags decorated with characters from popular anime series.

Called wata gum (wata means “cotton” in Japanese), this actually only looks like cotton candy - it is a sort of bubble gum… And with a very strong flavor, wata gum is a pleasant and unusual sensation…
