Kami-Igusa Gundam statue

Sun, May 11, 2014, by Muza-chan

In 2008, one year before the now famous life-size Gundam was built in Odaiba, the residents of Suginami, Tokyo, raised money and erected a statue of the popular robot in front of the Kami-Igusa train station.

Why did they build a Gundam statue? Because in this neighborhood, nearby the train station, are located the headquarters of Sunrise Studios, the very birthplace of the famed Gundam franchise. The statue is made of bronze, is 3 meters tall and it is a great attraction for fans.
