Nagasaki Dragon dance

At the beginning of the year, in Japan takes place Shishi-mai, the Japanese Lion Dance, an old performing tradition that originates in China.
On the occasion of the Chinese New Year (which is right today), a similar Chinese tradition, the Dragon Dance, takes place in China and in the Chinese towns around the world, including the three Chinese towns from Japan, Kobe, Yokohama and Nagasaki.

I recently had the opportunity to witness the Dragon Dance in Nagasaki, right next to the JR Nagasaki Station: the dragon was coiling and undulating in complicated patterns, with the rhythm of the drums, an enchanting spectacle, traditionally believed to bring good weather and good fortune for the community…
