National Treasures of Japan, Itsukushima Marodo Shrine

Fri, October 3, 2014, by Muza-chan

The amazing structure of Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima is only one of the several constructions on the island listed as a National Treasures of Japan. Another building you shouldn’t miss while visiting Miyajima is one of the auxiliary shrines, the Marodo Shrine (called “Shrine for the Guest Deity").

Built in the same architectural style, on pillars over water, Marodo Shrine is perfectly integrated with the Itsukushima complex and is connected to the central shrine with a corridor that is also on the National Treasures list.
