We often talk about the famous Japanese gardens, superlatives of the gardening art in Japan. However, after traveling through Japan for a longer time, I discovered that the country is filled with amazingly beautiful gardens and that many temples, shrines, houses or even restaurants can pleasantly surprise the passersby with a lovely garden.
One good example is this small garden located at the entrance of the Zuiho-in in Kyoto, temple itself famous for some of its Zen gardens (such as the “Garden of the Cross” and “Garden of Solitary Meditation”).
Stone lantern, moss and carefully trimmed pines… Simply beautiful!
