Near the beautiful temizuya from Rinnō-ji Taiyuin in Nikko, there is a path lined with stone lanterns which leads to a gate permanently closed for visitors.
Since I am curious by nature, I wanted to know what is behind that gate… So I searched for a place from where I could take a picture and later I learned that there is a building there, the one visible in the upper part of this photo, named Taiyuin-reibyo Ryuko-in, which is used now as a management building.
However, what I found really remarkable about this place is this garden located in front of the building, where tens of big, beautiful stone lanterns are lined up between the cedar trees:
