With its perfect cone, Mount Fuji inspired people all around Japan, so there’s no wonder that several other Japanese mountains have names related to the beloved Fuji-san. One example is the Fuji from Aizu, Mount Bandai and I recently visited another one: the small but scenic Iinoyama from Shikoku, nicknamed “Sanuki Fuji”, photographed here from the walls of the Marugame Castle.

A perfect 422 meters tall cone, which is also a sacred mountain: it hosts a temple dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha of Medicine and a giant rock said to be the footprint of a legendary giant…
