Simply beautiful Japanese scenes, Hikone castle viewed from the Genkyu-en garden

Sat, November 29, 2014, by Muza-chan

Many Japanese castles were embellished by a garden. Similar to the castles, the gardens were symbols of the ruler’s power and status, so each lord tried to distinguish its garden with some superlative traits or by hiring a famous master.

So, some of them were made for strolling while others were made to be enjoyed from the castle’s upper floors. The Genkyu-en garden of Hikone was designed to allow the visitors to admire the impressive castle tower… A simply beautiful view!
