The Toyosu area from Tokyo was relatively recently created (in 1937) by land reclamation. Knowing this and if you’re not used to the audacity and professionalism of the Japanese builders, you can be surprised when, exiting the Toyosu Station, you see a couple of impressive towers…
Even if they look twins, these two beautiful skyscrapers were built 14 years apart. The tower on the left, built in 1992, is the Toyosu Center Building (NTT DATA Headquarters), 165 meters tall. It was designed by Nikken Sekkei, the largest independent architectural and engineering firm in Japan. The tower on the right, built in 2006, is the Toyosu Center Building Annex (147 meters tall) and serves as an office building.
I think these modernist style towers, with their white and blue facades are some of my favorite skyscrapers:
