The cedar trees from Hakone were planted along the old Tōkaidō road in 1618, at the beginning of the Edo period, about the same time when the Hakone Checkpoint was built.
Over 400 of the cedars planted back then survived until today and the area was designated as historical site. It’s a great place for a stroll and to enjoy the nature…
