Yokaichi Old Town

Fri, April 5, 2019, by Muza-chan

Once famous for the production of high quality vegetable white wax (a type of wax made from the berries of the wax tree) the Uchiko town in Ehime is one of the Japanese places preserving the charm of the old atmosphere. Yokaichi Uchiko, the old merchants district, is a street lined by 90 machiya townhouses, with beautiful wooden lattice and white plaster walls.
