Tallest Lighthouse in Japan

Fri, March 25, 2011, by Muza-chan

Yokohama Marine Tower was built in 1961, at the anniversary of 100 years since the opening of the Yokohama Harbor. The tower was the symbol of Yokohama for over 30 years, until the tallest building in Japan, Yokohama Landmark Tower was inaugurated in 1993.
With a height of 106 meters, Yokohama Marine Tower is the tallest lighthouse in Japan and the 3rd tallest lighthouse in the world.
And if you consider its architecture, it is also the world’s tallest skeletal steel lighthouse.

Travel Tip: The observatory, located at 100 meters above ground, offers a spectacular view over the Yokohama Port.
