Romantic evenings in Kyoto

Fri, January 20, 2012, by Muza-chan

There are so many places to spend an evening in Kyoto… Most tourists choose to go to Gion, the famous geisha district, especially on Hanami-koji-dori or on Shirakawa-minami-dori… and there are many other great options.

My favorite place for a romantic evening in Kyoto is on the riverbanks of Kamo River: if you cross Shijo-ohashi, the bridge close to the famous Minami-za Kabuki theater, you will see a string of ochaya and traditional restaurants, with balconies opened towards the river.

It’s a very romantic place, especially for a summer evening, favored by couples but also by anyone who enjoys the freshness of the river water. You can stroll alongside the river admiring the beauty of the traditional buildings, I saw a spot where you can even cross it if you dare, and if you get tired, those friendly restaurants await you…
