One of the remarkable aspects of Tokyo is the care for older and disabled people. There are elevators everywhere (sometimes even for a couple of steps) in passages, shops, museums or train stations and even at… shrines, like this elevator from Suitengu Shrine, nicely integrated with the traditional architecture.
Because the shrine is dedicated to the God of “safe childbirth and blessing of pregnancy", the shrine is also visited by pregnant women or women with small babies.
